Denver Broncos Brief History
The Broncos started as part of the AFL back in 1960, and they became an official NFL team after the 1970 merger between the two leagues.
This is a team that remained very uncompetitive for its first decade of existence. In fact, they weren’t able to complete an actual winning season until 1973.
Then four years later, in 1977, they managed to make it to the postseason for the first time in the history of the franchise, making it all the way to Super Bowl XII the very same year.
Also, since 1975, the Broncos has turned into one of the top NFL teams, with just seven losing seasons until today. 1997 and 1998 proved to be two of the most successful seasons for this franchises as they managed to get back-to-back Super Bowl titles. And they did it thanks to the outstanding work from quarterback John Elway, and rookie running back Terrell Davis.
Then, they enjoyed some regular times until 2012, when a new player arrived in town: legendary quarterback Peyton Manning. Manning missed the previous season due to neck injuries, but he was able to lead the Broncos to a 13-3 record during his first year in Denver.
The team finished with exactly the same record the following season, and with a 12-4 record in 2014. Then it came 2015, the other most glorious moment for this franchise as they managed to conquer their third Super Bowl title, just before Manning retired after 18 seasons in the league.
