Kings Beat Blues Can Take Series At Home
The fifth game of the series between the Kings and the Blues started with zero goals during the first period but things changed during the second and the third, and at the end of regulation time, the score was tied at 2 goals for each team. The game was then decided in overtime after a goal from Slava Voynov, which granted LA the victory and the lead in the series three games versus two from St Louis.
Things are now certainly favoring Los Angeles as game six will take place at the Staples Center, which means that they can clinch their pass to the next round of the NHL playoffs with a win in front of their fans.
Although the odds are now against them, players from the Blues are optimistic and don’t feel that they are already eliminated and on the contrary, they believe that they can take the series from the Kings. On this coach Ken Hitchcock mentioned that “If we play like that again, I like our chances. All we’ve got to do is win a road game and get it back here.” This is the 4th time these teams meet at the playoffs and although the Kings swept the Blues at last season’s Western Conference Semifinal, St Louis won 2 of their last 3 playoff series.

Ducks Lead Series Thanks To OT Victory Over The Red Wings
The Ducks grabbed an important 3-2 overtime victory on Wednesday night at Honda Center, and are now leading their series to the Red Wings three wins to two. This was quite a disputed match where both teams scored a goal during the first two periods, and none of them scored during the third, which forced the game to go to OT, where Nick Bonino scored the winning goal for the locals, whom are now headed to the Joe Louis Arena for game six on May 10.
The team from Anaheim recognizes that this hasn’t been an easy series, and they know that they will advance to the next round only if they can put up a really good team effort and on this Ryan Getzlaf, the captain of the Ducks and who scored the second goal for Anaheim, mentioned that “this is a big situation, and we need guys who haven’t done it before to step up. It’s not an easy task, but that’s why the playoffs are fun.”
