Clippers start season with a win over Golden State

The Clippers began their season in style by defeating the Warriors 105 to 86, and the men responsible for LA’s late but convincing win were the newcomers in Chris Paul (who finished with 20 points and 9 assists), Caron Butler (eleven points and 10 rebounds) and Chauncey Billups (21 points), all of whom scored the last points of the game after Golden State got a point shy of LA in the middle of the fourth.

The recent acquisition of Paul and the presence of Blake Griffin in the team has placed the Clippers in a place of privilege when it comes to make it to the playoffs, and for the first time, it is reported that the ticket sales from LA’s other team are surpassing those of the Lakers, a sign that the trade with the Hornets is proving to be effective inside and outside the court.

Heat gets their revenge as they beat Dallas in season opener

The Heat acquired their first victory of the current season by beating the Mavericks 105-94, in a game where Dwayne Wade and LeBron James both showed a lot of dominance, running the court with the ball at will against a team that is still getting used to not having Tyson Chandler in their roster.

The win served as the perfect revenge for a Heat team that was defeated by Dallas at last year’s NBA Finals, and LeBron made sure the Mavs felt his presence in the court as he finished the game with an impressive 37 points, ten rebounds and 6 assists.

Magic with victory over Rockets

5 players with double figures leaded the Magic to their first victory of the season as they beat the Rockets 104 to 95. The best scorer for Orlando was Hedo Turkoglu, who finished with 23 points, followed by Dwight Howard with 21, and JJ Redick with 20. For Houston, Kyle Lowry was the top scorer as he finished with 20 points, while Luis Scola and Courtney Lee had 19 and 15 respectively.

The Rockets got within 4 points during the last quarter, but 3-pointers by Turkoglu and Redick late in the game helped Orlando to secure a valuable home opener victory after losing their season opener at Oklahoma City against the Thunder.
