Tracy McGrady signs with the Clippers

Just as any other player in free agency, Tracy McGrady was hoping to get a contract with the team where LeBron James would be playing, but since that is out the picture for him; he has found another home at the Los Angeles Clippers, a team that is in need of a true superstar.

He has not signed with the LA franchise just yet, but a deal should be concreted within the next couple of days. McGrady has stated in various opportunities that what he truly wanted was to play with a team that could be a contender in the upcoming 2010 NBA season, even going to the extreme of begging the Miami Heat to sign him, but the truth is that just a handful of teams have been in talks with the small forward concerning contract proposals, and it seems like the Clippers were the team that came up with the best one for him.

McGrady’s story is a bit sad since his career started to get plagued with injuries, and before that, he was considered amongst the league’s best, now his level is considered average, as proven last season, when he finished with a low nine points per game in a total of 24 matches with the Knicks

His most successful time in the NBA came when he was part of the Houston Rockets from 2004 to 2010, but he was forced to leave due to low performances by the end of his last year with the Texan franchise.

The Clippers are looking better now that they have McGrady and Baron Davis in the team, and even though they cannot be considered contenders as these two players are not what they used to be a few years back, they can certainly give a fight and will be ready to put up some good games against their upcoming rivals.

The details of the contract T-Mac is receiving for becoming part of LA’s other team have not been published, but the deal might surely be better than what he would have gotten paid in the Heat or the Bulls, the other two teams that were interested in his services but that could only pay him a veteran’s salary, and the ego of a superstar like McGrady could certainly not tolerate something like that.

It seems like Clippers fans will at least have a couple of stars in their team in T-Mac and Davis, but concerning their record, I don’t think it will end up being too good.
