While teams like the Bulls, the Knicks and the Heat are focused on getting the services of Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh and the top player in free agency, LeBron James, John Hammond, the general manager of the Bucks, is looking forward to better up his team in a different way as he wants to make of his franchise a competitive one in the Eastern Conference.
His latest move came in the signing of power forward Drew Gooden to a 5-year, $32 million dollar contract on Thursday. And even though he is a player that is a bit old at 28, he still has a lot of basketball in him, as proven in his time with the Clippers and the Mavs last year, averaging ten points and seven rebounds per game.
This is a contract that is very favorable for both the Bucks and Gooden, as the franchise is getting a proficient player that is not too costly, and Gooden is securing a spot for five seasons, which is not too bad for a player like him.
Milwaukee already added Chris Douglas-Roberts and Corey Maggette, and they needed a strong power forward to create a proficient line of 3 starters, and even though they already had Larry Sanders, but according to team sources, he is a project that is still shaping to become a starter in a couple of years from now.

And, with the return of John Salmons to the team, this will give the Bucks an outstanding starting lineup made up of Maggette, Salmons, Brandon Jennings, Andrew Bogut and of course Gooden.
If the Bucks are as proficient as they were last year, they might be quite good this upcoming season, as last season they pushed the number three seeded Atlanta Hawks to seven games in the playoffs, and with the new additions they can have an even better run this year, as they projected to become a top 3 team in the Eastern Conference.
There is no doubt: Hammond is a genius, as the man was able to completely reshape this team in a positive way in just two years, as they went from a laughable franchise, to one that can compete for the top positions at the league, and since they are so competitive now, their rivals must keep an eye on them as they are not what they used to be.
