Rafa Nadal did not have the chance of appearing at the 2009 edition of Wimbledon Championships due to an injury that left him out. He won the trophy at 2008 and with a 6-2, 6-4, 6-4 victory to Kei Nishikori from Japan; he is now on the second round of the current version of the prestigious British competition.
Nadal is the true owner of this tournament, as he has only been defeated once back in 2007, when he lost in the final match to Roger Federer, since then, he has always came up victorious on every single match. Now he will be facing Ron Haase (who passed after defeating James Blake), who is currently the 151st of the world, which means that the Dutchman is not a threat at all for the Spaniard, who was very convincing in his return to Wimbledon.

This tourney has grass courts, and Nadal says that it gets hard to come from playing at clay to play at a grass court, but he also mentioned that it is worth the effort as he loves to play at this centre court. He also said that he truly enjoys the crowd at Wimbledon, as they always make him feel at home.
This was the 5th Grand Slam tournament for Nishikori and his 2nd Wimbledon. The Japanese looked slow at the first exchanges against Nadal, mostly because he spent most of last season inactive due to a right elbow injury, but in despite of that, he made a great effort that even got his some cheers from the people at the stands, though it was just not enough against the best tennis player in the world.
The win allowed Nadal, who is a 7-time Grand Slam winner to continue with a strike of never having lost at the 1st round of Wimbledon. He mentioned that the first match of a tournament is always the most complicated for him, and after defeating Nishikori he said to feel more confident to face the challenges which are ahead of him.
Rafael Nadal is coming to this tourney after winning the French Open for the 5th time in just 6 years, though the 24 year old tennis player said that this is the trophy that is more valuable to him, in fact, he has the one he won at 2008 in top of his TV, and also mentioned that he is expecting to put an identical one next to the one he already possesses.
