The Lorgnette Stakes is a race that is worth $150 thousand dollars and it takes place at Woodbine track. It features three year old horses and it runs for 1 1/16 miles on the synthetic surface known as polytrack. This year’s race was won by BioFuel, a horse that was making his second start of 2010 after he came victorious at the Star Shoot Stakes. He was a 3-10 favorite over Ernfold (5-1) and Empire Spring (8-1).
Witch’s Coven fought against Moment of Majesty for the lead, with Biofuel starting behind early in the race (about four lengths) along with Earnfold, who find a place in the inside to then take a momentary lead for 3 quarters and even took a 2 length advantage at the middle of the race, but Biofuel surprised, coming at 6 wide across the lane to pass the other tiring horses.
Eurico Rosa da Silva is the jockey that ran with the winning horse; he said that he felt very confident, as he was sure that he was actually riding the top horse in the competition, and he also mentioned that another key element to make of this horse a top prospect is the fact that she is the daughter of the famous Stormin Fever, a colt that was trained at Reade Baker. Storming Fever went on to win four races in just seven starts, which earned her owners a total of $495 thousand dollars, which is a figure that is expected to be overcome by Biofuel.

Earnfold, the horse that came in second and which was ran by Jim McAleney, was at the third position early in the race, then managed to make a great comeback but the effort was still not enough to beat Biofuel, as the winning horse beat him by 1 length at the final line. Earnfold is also the son of a famous horse in Stormy Atlantic, and has currently accumulated a total of $176 thousand dollars for owners Susan and Jim Hill thanks to 2 victories, 2 second places, 2 third places in six starts.
And Moment of Majesty, the one that came in fourth, was run by jockey Robert Landry. This horse was trained by Sue Leslie and is the daughter of Saint Liam, improved her own record to two victories, no seconds, and two thirds, all in seven starts, earning owner and breeder Curtis Joseph a total of $140 thousand dollars.
