Can the Celtics meet the Lakers at the NBA Finals?

Is it a final between Los Angeles and Boston possible? Yes, of course, and this might as well be the year in which the Lakers can actually have their revenge concerning their defeat at the 2008 NBA Finals, but before that, they also need to avenge their upset at the 06’ and 07’ conference finals to the Suns, the team which they will face on a best of seven series which starts on May 17.

Kobe Bryant, Lamar Odom, Pau Gasol and the rest of the Lakers were really angry when they fell to the Celtics in game 6 of the 2008 finals, that they swore that they would obtain the championship the following year, and that is exactly what they did, and, can that actually happen in tonight’s game when the Cavs meet Boston at TD Garden?

Well, King James and the rest of the Cavaliers certainly have what it takes to overtake the Celtics on their own court, but that would be only a victory that would even things at 3-3 in order to push the series to a seventh game, which is why a rematch between Boston and Los Angeles is more likely to occur.

Now, before the Celtics can actually meet the Lakers at the finals, they will have to face a well rested Magic team, who played its last game on Monday against the Hawks, finishing their second postseason series win, both by sweeps.

And when it comes to big 3’s, Dwight Howard has its own in Rashad Lewis, Vince Carter and Jameer Nelson, which is why the Celtics will need to find a formula that can help them to neutralize Howard in order to have an effective control of the remaining 3 main men in Orlando, whom had been playing outstandingly during the postseason.

Another factor that doesn’t help the Celtics too much is that they do not posses home court advantage over the Magic, which is different than the Lakers, whom will begin their series to the Suns playing at Staples Center.

Tomorrow we will know if the Celtics will actually make it to the conference finals, and if they do, then the series between Boston and Orlando is going to be an interesting match between coaches Stan Van Gundy and Doc Rivers (who is looking forward to a rematch between him and Phil Jackson).
