It is certainly a great time for Dwight Howard, the 24 year old center from the Magic, as he is going to be honored today with the Defensive Player of the Year title (his second in a row) and his team is leading the playoffs series against the Bobcats 1-0. Now all he needs is a championship ring.
On Orlando’s 98-89 victory against Michael Jordan’s team, Howard ended up with 9 blocks, which is one shy of the all-time NBA record, which means that the All-Star is playing his best basketball and is trying to push his team as much as he can in order to beat Charlotte in as less games as possible, but, the truth is that, even though “Superman” is working hard in the court, such number of blocks just mean one thing: the Magic is letting the rival to penetrate their end zone with ease.
On game two, they will be playing at Amway Arena, which gives the Magic home court advantage; therefore, they will be forced to apply themselves as much as possible in both offense and defense in order to fly to Charlotte for game 3 with a 2-0 in the series.

The Magic certainly needs to have an eye on Gerald Wallace, Raymond Felton and Stephen Jackson, and truly work as a team in order to allow Howard to become more effective in offense and to avoid getting him tired with overwhelming defensive duties.
On the other hand, if the Bobcats truly want to avoid the 2-0, they know that they need to be on top of Howard all the time, as he is considered a “bully” while on the court, and Theo Ratliff seems to be the man with the task of not letting him to score points.
The regular season series between both teams ended up favoring Orlando by 3-1, and now you can add a postseason game to that count, but, since this is the playoffs and since we are heading to game 2, it is quite early to tell if Gerald Wallace (probably the most important player in Charlotte’s roster) and his team are going to miss round 2 of the postseason or if they will have the chance to advance. Well, if they are able to stop Superman, and figure out Jameer Nelson, they do have a chance, but being Dwight Howard the player he is, it is for sure that he will honor his nickname and give the best of himself to finally know how a championship ring feels in his finger.
